The school participated in the Likoni division football tournament which was held at a nearby primary school on 21 May 2013. DGS entered both the boys and girls football teams and the students and staff walked to the venue 2 miles away.

The day ended on a sad note as Caleb Munyekenye, class 6, fractured his arm,
Mr Alang'o and Victor took him to the hospital
A follow up to the story above is that George Otieno (Class 7), Veronica Akoth (Class 7), Fatuma Salim (Class 7), Fatuma Saidi (Class 7) and Ummi Ebrahim (Class 6) were chosen to represent the division the following Thursday. After this game George Otieno and Fatuma Saidi were deemed good enough to represent the district.
