Destiny Garden Primary School, founded in May 2009, is a charity school providing children from ages 4 to 15 years old with a good education. It is located in Mtongwe, one of the poorest suburbs of the Likoni sub-county, Mombasa. The school has learners from Early Childhood Pre-primary 1 and pre-primary 2 classes to Primary level from Grade 1 to 8. There are two curriculums currently being taught- the new Competency-based curriculum also known as CBC; and the 8-4-4 system which will soon be phased out.
The School focuses on supporting the most vulnerable children in their society – orphans, and disadvantaged children. Many of the children come from homes managed by single parents or guardians. Its work is especially important since there is an increasing number of orphans and underprivileged children in this area. These vulnerable children need to be provided with basics to survive; including food, shelter, clothing, education, and access to proper health care.
The school is committed to educating the children in this area and nurturing them to their full potential.
The school motto is “Destined for excellence in life!”
